The Baltic Sea Region (BSR)
The Baltic Sea Region (BSR) is comprised of eleven countries in Northern Europe, namely Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia and Sweden. The region has over 100 million inhabitants. Its growth ranks higher than most of the major economies in Europe. The Baltic Sea Region represents one-third of the European Union’s GDP. Some seventy five percent of the BSR is estimated to have a higher growth rate than the EU average of 2.5%, and the region is already being recognized as the leading growth and trading centre in Europe.
The region is home to stable democracies, a favorable business climate, high education standards, strong industrial traditions, and a shared history of co-operation and trade. The recent enlargement of the EU has created more business, social and cultural opportunities for further integration of the region. Magnusson holds a special position in that it is a Baltic region firm.
